When the kids came along, we decided we wanted to raise them in Australia
Irish Dancing With The Stars judge Tristan MacManus has found his haven in Caringbah with wife Tahyna and their children Echo 4 and Oisin, 1
“Because of dancing I travel the world, which got me to LA, which is where I met my wife. My home represents my life. That’s my family, isn’t it? We have two perfect kids and we love each other.”
He’s danced all over the world, but Irishman Tristan says he always knew he was destined for family life in Australia. Tristan and wife, model/actor Tahyna (nee Tozzi), had previously based themselves in Los Angeles where Tristan had competed on the US version of Dancing With The Stars. The shoe is now on the other foot — Tristan is a judge on the local version of the hit show.
“When the kids came along, we decided we wanted to raise them in Australia,” Tristant says. “My wife is from the Shire and when we decided to settle down, we thought there’s no better place than God’s own country. We even got married at Kurnell.”
Tristan is also known as the judge on Dancing With The Stars that has the most empathy for the celebrities partaking in the show.
“I have been on the other side,” he says. “You can’t forget that these people are putting themselves out there to be knocked. They’re given a week to learn everything, plus do media and their regular jobs. The only time I get put out is when I know they’re not doing their best. Some people have limited dance ability, but if they give it their all, I’m happy.”
